Microsoft Teams Fast Track Case Study

The John Lyon School is partnered with Harrow School and based nearby in Harrow on the Hill. A carefully planned project to enhance teaching and learning systems was suddenly fast-tracked and the school needed some urgent help at short notice.

The Challenge

The John Lyon School had done the initial setup in preparation for a rollout of Microsoft Teams, a hub for teaching and learning using the Microsoft Office365 platform. What was intended to be a carefully planned and measured approach to using this new technology for teaching and learning was very suddenly fast-tracked during the coronavirus pandemic that required the school to send pupils home and as a result to immediately scale up remote learning.

Technical Consultancy

Peer reviewing the school’s own technical preparation work

Fast Track

Helping the school to be fully ready for online teaching and learning in a very short space of time

Best Practice

Ensuring the Office 365 and Teams configuration met best practice guidelines

How we did it

RivaNET worked with the school to fast track Microsoft Teams by providing technical consultancy and deployment services. This included reviewing the initial work that was performed by the school, ensuring that Microsoft recommendations were adhered to. Training was delivered and user guides were created and issued.

The feedback from IT Director Geoff Mattey spoke volumes: “I just wanted to say a huge thanks to RivaNET. We managed to get everything working, with documentation and Microsoft Teams installed on every pupil device. With your help we also showed each teacher how to use Teams to a level that enabled them to deliver a class.”
