Strategic IT Roadmap Case Study

A managed IT service supporting progressive, modern & innovative educational with solid thought leadership & technical expertise.

The Challenge

In order to future-proof Lingfield College’s ICT management, provision and maintenance, they required a robust network and infrastructure strategy and road map. They wanted a trusted partner to help them deliver a progressive, modern and innovative educational environment for pupils and staff alike.  Their IT policy and budgets are structured to achieve this without the operational demands or need for an internal network manager.

Building a long term IT and support strategy tailored to their specific requirements, managing day-to-day operational priorities and issues and at the same being able to share insight and best practice in education technology was critical for success.

Lingfield College knew they needed a fully tailored and outsourced IT support service, including strategy, delivery and ongoing management. Their challenge was to find the right partner.

Support Strategy

Managed service and expertise delivered according to pre-defined SLA’s and enhanced governance

Proactive Management

RivaNET’s on-site engineers provide exceptional support experience, systems and processes

Predictable Budgeting

From strategy and roadmap to delivering the right technology with no incremental headcount

How we did it

RivaNET worked with Lingfield’s senior leadership team to understand their learning and teaching goals, and identify the critical priorities for their IT systems and support.

A full assessment of their learning environment was completed and the appropriate network and technology infrastructure was recommended to create a safe learning and teaching environment for their pupils to flourish in.

Lingfield College required a fully managed IT support service and didn’t want to manage daily operational responsibilities. RivaNET created a comprehensive 5 year roadmap for all IT requirements, planning installations with optimised infrastructure while ensuring managed IT resources were in place to deliver peace of mind. Key programs and technologies have included:

  • A hybrid approach to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) technology
  • Implementation 6 ICT rooms with PC and virtualised computers
  • Virtualisation with VMware Horizon allows home working for teachers and six form pupils
  • Secure WiFi with enhanced iboss cyber security delivering proactive threat management
  • Robust disaster recovery plans and back up systems
  • Ongoing advice on making the right decisions with children bringing their own devices to school compared with iPads being issued, the policy, insurance and maintenance of the devices.

The advantage of fully outsourced IT service rather than a internal network manager means Lingfield College has access to a tremendous amount of market expertise. RivaNET know the choices that other schools make, and offers significant independent knowledge to help formulate an IT strategy.
